Read this article and let us know, does this explain how you pick friends?
For me, I like folks to fit in with some of my interests (reading, writing, teaching, politics).

These days, I mostly meet people on the tennis court. Folks who have no passion aren't interesting to me. I like people to have a fire in their belly about SOMETHING.

DC, I don't think this explains how you pick friends. This is fine for business strategies or trying to win someone over to your ideas, but friendship is more personal. Both parties have to be open and receptive to one another. This is just doing what someone else does to persuade them in your favor!
It was a very interesting article. Just like you DG, I pick my friends according to my interests (reading, travel, children, hobbies). Do you think that after a certain period of time, we start to mimic our friends? I see my daughter mimicing her friend's hand and facial movements after she spends a more extended time with her. It always wonders me when she bursts out an expressions that I use. Do I mimic my friends? I don't think so, but an outsider would be able to determine it better than myself.
