Should Criminals Profit From Their Crimes

I recently read an article about how some criminals are profitting from the crimes they committed. The justice system came to an all time low when O.J. Simpson's publicist announced he was going to write a book about how he would have murdered his ex-wife if he "did it". However, it isn't the first or the last time criminals have or will profit because of their fame. Gacy sold his paintings while waiting on death row, Charles Manson has a music CD, Scott Peterson has his own website and the list goes on. Is human nature and curiosity partly to blame ? Is the judicial system to blame for allowing criminals to profit from their crime and subsequent fame ? We all know serial killers love attention. Are the media moguls to blame as they desperately seek ratings and profits? I think this is crazy and these criminals should not be able to make any profit. What do you think?

I totally agree with you. The media will exploit anything for profit. That's why criminals are so bold today; they do it for the attention. All the media cares about is ratings.

I believe that the media is to blame for the hype surrounding criminals. The criminals should not be trying to profit from their heinous crimes, but at the same time, the only reason they do it is because it sells, and who's to blame for that? I agree with pmoten that the media will exploit anything for profit.

I so agree with you pmoten I think the media publish a little too much information but I also think movies and tv show made crime look so glamours.

I dont believe that anyone should profit from a crime in any way, shape, or form. Where are as a society, when "crime pays," or a book is written about true crimes and the culprit profits from it--in the from of royalties.

I agree 100%. Criminal are criminal and they not suppose to get any benefit for what they did. It's ashamed to see this in today's society but is reality and we can't denied that our system is actually praising these criminals.
