Valentine's Day

Valentine's day is comming. Some of us love this day because we either get super sweet gifts and candy, or because we're all luvy dubby with our boyfriend or girlfriend or whoever, our sex partner.
Some of us see it as a waste of time and money, and even a day of hipocrecy...

what are your thoughts on Valentine's DAy?

I think it is good to let others know you care on Valentines day. Sometimes our schedules are so hectic, we don't get around to it. For most people, it doesn't take anything extravagant, just a small gesture will do.

I'm a single female and I agree with motenp. I do think some people over react to it and it is definitely a Hallmark and Hersey's holiday, but all in all I think it's sweet to acknowledge loved ones no matter what the occasion.

I think Valentine's day is a great day. It's a day where you give love to everyone you care about. It's a way of expressing what you really feel inside. Eventhough it can become very expensive and that's bad new.

I personally think valentine's day is another corporate scam on human emotions to make you spend money. It's not that I don't have a valentine, but I just think sometimes things that are meant to represent some sort of positive message end up actually making people miserable. My boyfriend and I have been happily together for almost a year now but I am spending valentine's day with the girls. We are dressing up and going out.

I thoroughly enjoy Valentine's Day. I'll take any excuse I can get to show someone I care, and it always makes me feel great when someone returns the love. I agree with motenp that small gifts are perfect gestures on such a day. My boyfriend and I celebrate our anniversary on 2/18 and typically combine the two holidays to save money. It can get expensive fast!

I think Valentine's Day is a brillian Hallmark marketing scheme. I believe that we should be appreciative for every day that we spend with those who are important in our lives and letting them know what they mean to us regardless of a day picked just for this.

I think is just a nice day to remind someone special how much you care for them. As a new parent things had been really stressful and I think tomorrow would be a perfect excuse for my fiance and I to go out to eat and enjoy the night just the two of us.

I think it is an okay day. I believe that most of the people nowadays see it as an exscuse to have sex and thats about it. I believe it is a day to show how special a person is not just a day for sex. Older generations understand this more than kids and teens today. I think it has lost its real value and I only like this day because for the ones that understand its meaning it is a very good day.

I'm having a tough time with special days like Valentines day, Xmas and others, these days have sort lost there appeal to me since the now have turned to where you have to make purchases to feel in the spirit of things. I do enjoy enjoy watching my daughter fill out all her little cards for her friends in school, but for me personally I try to show that ones who are special to me how I feel through out the year.

I also believe that Valentine's day is a holiday that has become too commercialized and just another day to put on a sale. Does anyone even know who or what St. Valentine really is? It "is the name of several martyred saints of ancient Rome of the Saint Valentine whose feast is on February 14, nothing is known except his name and that he was buried at the Via Flaminia north of Rome on February 14."(wikipedia.com) Now can anyone tell me what this has to do with candy, roses, bears, balloons and the color red?

It's an okay day but it's nothing to get excited about. I don't believe in taking one day out the year to show your love for your partner when you should show your love all year round. Every day should be Valentine's day in that case. Plus, you don't have to have an actual partner to have a good "Valentine's" day. Even though I have someone, my daughter is my valentine, and she will always be that. But there is nothing brand new about the day, it's just another day.

I like Valentines Day. Its a day to show someone you care. Yes, some can argue that it's cliche, but I think that's just an excuse for people who either dont have a partner or dont care to get their partner so much as a card (like my boyfriend of 11 months did this valentines day). Yes, it hurts to be neglected on Valentines Day, boys!!!! Especially after all of us girls get you guys gifts. Just make sure to do something nice (doesnt have to be expensive). Take ur girlfriend on a walk or tell her how much she means to you. If you dont mention it, it kind of makes is wonder how you really feel.

There are 365 days in a year, why should you take only one to show someone how you feel about them? I personally think THE V-DAY initially was a good means by which people expressed their love for one another, but in recent times has just become a commercial means by which businesses make profits by playing on human emotions. If you "really" love someone everyday is valentines day.
