First time bloggers: As you continue your journey through education and into the professional world, I hope that you have learned a valuable skill from this blog: that blogging shouldn't be feared.
If you'll look back to the first 50 or so posts you'll notice a common theme: many of the posts start with "I'm new to this and I don't know what I'm doing".
Hopefully, you'll never ever ever (etc) write that again. First of all, it makes you seem incompetent, which is absolutely not true. Secondly, it's annoying. It was annoying the first time I read it and the effect only multiplied with repetition.
Everyone: in this class is a blogger of, at minimum, basic competence and many are advanced. The next time that you blog, whether for a class, job, or personal pleasure, know that you are capable of doing it well.
The hardest part of good blogging is getting the attention of readers and keeping it. With good writing and exciting visuals you can do that.
Instead of goodbye, I say welcome. Welcome to publishing in the 21st century.
C'ya around.

My Farewell To You
Well, you guys, we finally made it. Towards the end it became really hard for me academically and personally. I almost gave up but I was able to persevere and finish, at least one part of my assignment. But I just want to thank all of the positive encouragers and those that went above and beyond to help those that were lacking or slacking. Once again, THANX.

Au Revoir
Is it appropriate to bid farewell to my English class in French? I feel like I have learned a lot this semester! This class not only improved my writing skills, but it also has helped prepare me for the rest of my college education. I was terrified when I first started out, but with a little time management and lots of questions, I feel apt to take on what comes at me. Thanks to everyone for all the insight, and I wish everyone the best in their future endeavors. Special thanks to Ms. Chapman for making my first college experience a great one, and I couldn't have done it without you!

Oil industry works to soften terrorism victim law
International Herald Tribune - One by one, top executives of American oil companies met privately over the last year with Libya's leader, Colonel Muammar el-Qaddafi, often in his signature Bedouin tent, as they lined up contracts allowing them to tap into the country's oil reserves.
When reading this story I felt like American oil companies are knowingly supporting terrorism and putting the World's communities at risk in the interest of profits. Do you feel the same way?
But now, the new allies are working Capitol Hill, trying to weaken a law that threatens those deals. The Libyan government, once a pariah, and the American oil industry have hired high-profile lobbyists, buttonholed lawmakers and enlisted help from the Bush administration, all in an effort to win an exemption from a law that Congress passed in January that is intended to ensure that victims of terror attacks are compensated. Adios, Adieu, Sayonara, Ciao & Byeeee!!!
Hey there comrades and tutors. It has been a pleasure making your acquaintance and I must say times flies when you've got an overload of assignments :) I have enjoyed this class and would like thank everyone for their input. It's been a great experience and has taught me a think or two about time management. Wherever your future goals may be, I wish you the best of luck. With determination one can accomplish anything. Make it happen!!!
Goodbye All!
This has actually went by quick. I must say that I did enjoy this class, it was a bit overwhelming but it was good. Good luck to you all with your future plans and classes later on in the year.
Goodbye!

Bye All
Now you know that college is challenging!
When I consistently hit my down-the-line shot in tennis, my coach told me to "put that in your left pocket." She explained that I should bring that out when I need a boost to win. It's a shot that will intimidate my opponents and ensure a win.
Those of you who spent time perfecting your skills--transitions, topic sentences, MLA Syle, quote with title--have tools in your left pocket that you can bring out to impress even the most demanding professor.
If you completed all of the assignments, I commend you on your time-management skills. We are all busy. We all have friends, family, sports, hobbies, and yards that need mowing. So for those of you who appropriately carved out adequate time for this class, my tennis hat is off to you!
If you need letters of recommendation in the future, you may contact me through my personal email: dchapman7@yahoo.com.
Only the final is left!
Best wishes!

So Long......
Wow! I can't believe that the class is almost over. I had a hard time with this class, but I learned lots more than I thought I would. Its been fun communicating with people that I have no clue what they look or sound like. LOL! Thanks to everyone who helped me make it through these last 2 weeks. I really do appreciate it. Thanks to Ms. Chapman who kept my weeks full of assignments and essays. I wish everyone much, much, much success!

Goodbye!!!!!!!
I just wanted to stop by and say good bye to everyone in the blog. It was a pleasure hearing from everyone and it opened my mind to many interesting topics. I learn how to open my mind to other opinions and ideas that I know will make me a better student, but especially a better man. Thanks a lot for the ideas to become who I really want to become.
Goodbye Everyone>......

Goodbyes are soooo hard when you have so many memories from a semester that was challenging. I have learned so much in this english class which is going to help me tremendously in the future. Everyone that has goals in life please continue to keep a positive attitude and do not give up when times get hard. I was not the best student in high school, but I have learned that is never too late to keep trying and move foward in life. If I can leave you all with a motto I have which is:
Strength is not measured by how much you can push, but by how much you can withstand.

Bring on the second semester, I happened to be registered for the summer. I appreciate all the people that reviewed my essays and gave pertinent information to make me a better writer--Thank You!
Friends Until the End
Well guys, I guess this is it! I have really enjoyed our time together. I hope that each of you, as I have, improved your writing skills and are ready for the next step to English 1102. I also hope to encounter some of you in the next class. If not, I wish you all the best and good luck in your pursuits.
So close to the end...
I just wanted to take the time to comment on how I have enjoyed the blog this semester. I hope something I posted has made someone think or second guess themselves... at the same time I hope I didn't offend anyone too much. :o) Good luck to everyone on your final!

The worst pick up lines
These are just some of the worst lines I have heard from a guy;
"I have heard that sex is a killer..so, do you want to die happy?"
"The top your wearing is very ugly.can you please take it off?"
Guy;Excuse me miss. Do you have a piece of paper I could borrow?
Gal; Yes
Guy;Well then, could I borrow your number too?

Summer Classes
I know that most of us would like to make sure that we get out of the two year school on time. But if you add up the hours it takes to graduate on time, the hours that most of us take don't add up to the right amount with out taking summer courses. I myself plan on taking summer courses to keep up and get out on time. Does anybody else plan on taking summer courses or am I alone in this thinking?

Discount Shopping

Originally, I thought that any items off the discount rack were hardly worth looking or purchasing (I don't shop very often and when I do I'm usually focused on books or jewelry). But a recent experience at Kohl's made me reconsider: I successfully purchased a blouse, earrings, and a pair of Mary Jane-ish shoes from Puddle of Mudd for the price of $14.41.
Anyone have shopping stories to share?

Made my day
This is something a friend said just randomly one time:
We were talking about this guy who was extremely hot at the time. And she's like..
'by the way, that's my boyfriend...'
we are like, what??
She's like,
'Ya, but he just doesn't know it yet"!
Well,it might not be as funny to you reader but that still makes me smile to this day

The End of the World or Civilization as we know it

According to a History Channel documentary on Doomsday, several sources--the Mayan Calendar, the Sibyl of Cumae, Mother Shipton, Merlin, and the I Ching--the world, or civilization as we know it, is slated to collapse on December 21st, 2012. It is quite possible that this may never happen. On the other hand, one cannot disregard what is happening around them. Everywhere around us, the environment is changing, and there is conflict everywhere. Thus far, the predictions seem to be happening.
But what IS the end of the world? What is the Apocalypse and what is Ragnarok? According to the Bible, Apocalypse is the final conflict between God and Lucifer, and the salvation of all souls on Earth. In the Eddas, Ragnarok is the final conflict between the Aesir and Loki's horde.

It is interesting to note that in both cases, the end of the world is not literal. The final chapter of the Book of Revelations speaks of a "New Heaven and a New Earth" and in the conclusion of Ragnarok, a new generation of man sets out to repopulate the earth.
Which brings me to this question: is the end of the world really the collapse of civilization and a regression to a primitive state?

The Double Standard
I am looking to buy a car now, so I went to this car dealership to check out prices. I guess they must have seen 'fresh meat' written across my face because I was approached by this salesman that remined me of the devil trying to negotiate a deal for me to sell my soul. Since this was not my first experience with used car dealerships, I kept my cool, made sure I displayed knowledge of what I wanted and stayed focus on what I wanted without coming on too strong. The car's price was initially 11K, by the time I was through with negotiations, the price had went down to 8K. Pretty good, huh? I still could can not help wondering if I would have been a man , would I have been approached in that way or would I've had to try so hard to prove my wits? I still didn't buy the car because I felt so pressured and because I found the same car, cheaper, somewhere else. Why is there STILL a double standard in that regard? Women have truly evolved.

For-profit schools are professional Thieves!

When I decided to return back to school I wanted to pursue a career in audio production as a studio engineer. The Atlanta Art Institute offered this program and so I sought to pursue this degree. Looking at the expenses and the amount of money to fund my education I backed out and look at a other schools and GPC was very economical for me. My question is, do you think for-profit schools are the best choice to pursue especially if they are not public institutions like GPC?
WOW!!!!
I was thinking while sitting in class today, how much we complaint about our lives. We always think that we can better off by doing this or that, but we never think of what we have over here in America. We all have a great chance to become who we want to become, it's just on how much effort we put into it. While we have a great life over here, countries like Haiti suffer each day. 80% of the rural Haitian live in poverty and that is sad to hear. We need to start thanking God for the chance he's giving us to live a good life where at least we can eat each day. I want you guys to read this article and analize what we all have compare to this poor people.

Most of we, patriotic citizens have no clue what our homeland security alert system signifies, let know what the color codes mean. I found this guide that could help remedy the situation at the link below. God Bless America!

Birthday's are all the same
Today I celebrate my birthday. For some strange reason i'm really not that excited about it. When i was younger it was like the biggest thing in the world to me, but now it's like another day! I wonder do many others feel lkie that
Do you think that Jesus was rich?

What do you think, was Jesus rich or poor?
Do you think it matters either way?

Earth Hour
This past Saturday several cities were asked to participate in Earth Hour. What was asked of the cities was for the lights that were not essential to be turned off from 8pm until 9pm. They point of Earth Hour was to see how much energy the World uses. Personally, I was excited to participate in such an event that encourages change. So at 8 Saturday night I turned off all of the lights that were in use. I listened to my Ipod for an hour. I felt good that I was trying to help out the Planet. Did anyone else participate? If so, do you think that people will start using less light? If not, why? I have included a URL address for an advertisement for Earth Hour. Let me know what you think.
